Korean and Japanese look very similar I think. In the UK I have met some Korean people, and I myself sometimes couldn't tell if they are Japanese or Korean. This is probably because many of ancestors of Japanese people are from Korea. In the era of Asuka (around 500 A.D.) or even earlier, Korean people settled in Japan and introduced Buddhism to the country. And these days the fashion trend in these two countries is quite similar, so I understand even we cannot distinguish each other.
As for Chinese people, in some reason it's easy for me to distinguish them from Japanese people, although it is said that some types of Japanese have their origin in ancient China. But anyway, our faces are a bit different. Also to look at our way of walking and talking, and our fashion, there are many different aspects. Especially Japanese English and Chinese English sound completely different.
I don't mind at all being mistaken for a Chinese, Korean, Thai or whatever. I cannot tell if a Caucasian is British, German or Dutch by his/her face. I only tell the nationality by his/her accent when he/she speaks. This is because I know the accents of each language (well, still German English and Dutch English are quite hard for me to distinguish though). If a person doesn't know Japanese accent and Chinese accent, it's almost impossible for him/her to tell which is which.
Anyway, whatever you think my nationality is, I am me. This is the most important thing in personal relationships, isn't it? I am me. Myself. No one else. He is him and she is her, no one else. It is the matter of individuality, not nationality. The nationality matters only when we think about nations, politics, economy and those kind of things. And of course, cultures. Oh yes, we shouldn't forget this, as someone's personality goes hand in hand with the culture of his/ her country. I want to see and learn as many different people and cultures as possible, and that's why I love travelling. But about cultures, I'll write another time (because it'll be very long...ha ha).
↑btw thank you so much everyone for clicking this blogmura ranking banner. you all encourage me a lot. i'm amazed that there are so many people reading my murmur! thanx!

Hello,
You closely look at the difference among the peoples of Asia. At first glance, I can't distinguish Korean and Chinese people from Japanese, though I didn't have good opportunities to look at them and speak to them for some time. I might be careless and might have poor eyesight.
I was very surprised to see Caucasians on a TV program Silk Road the other day. They are more like Europeans.
Thank you for listing up my blog. I am very glad to see it.
Hi ruruan,
Probably I can distinguish Chinese from Japanese because I'm too conscious of their differences. I have an opportunity to think what the differences are, as Britons and other Europeans often mistake one for another.
Good to hear that you're glad that I listed up your blog on my site:)
Hi there,
Hmm, Although Japanese people have been mixed with all kinds of people, recent study shows that Korean, Chinese don't seem to share the same DNAs.
Japaense are more likely similar to those Vietnamies, and Tibetians..
See remarks that I took from somebody's comment==
It might be very interesting to dig into the futher reseach..
I personaly think that Koreans and Japanese are similar, because of their fashions..
Cheers
anonymous,
Thanks for your comment and really interesting report!
I didn't know at all about the recent study that shows Japanese, Korean and Chinese don't seem to share the same DNAs.
This is very very interesting, as we look similar, but may have different origins...
I'm going to look into this further...
Long time no see. Thank you for leaving a wonderful comment the other day.
I've never lived abroad, so I've never been mistaken for a Chinese or a Korean...
I'm not sure I can tell someone's nationality by his/her accent, because I don't know the difference of each language well.
(Maybe I can tell Russian English from French English...)
I'm looking fofward to reading next entry. Your murmur always makes me smile. Take care!
Karen,
Thank you for your comment.
It's great to hear from you:)
I think I'm lucky to live abroad and have an opportunity to see many people from different countries and cultures.
Yeah, Russian accent is really strong!
When I was studying in college there was a Russian girl, and i liked her accent.
Thanks again for a kind comment. And see you here and at yours soon:)
